All of the guys in the band are movie freaks, but against wide spread rumors that's not actually the reason for naming the band Cast.

Cast was originally a group of unemployed railway workers at the Rocky Mountains in the early 1970's. The band played solely Elvis covers in local bars, weddings, etc. In 2006 the oldest son, Ray, of the original Cast's lead singer gathered a group of his friends to play under the same band name to honor the memory of his father who had passed away in a hunting accident.

The one time session turned out so nicely that the guys decided to continue playing together. 3 years later in 2009 they have found their own style which has often been described as 'telling country music stories by blues'.

John describes the debut album, '... in order of appearance': "It's like a collection of movies, each song tells a truth based story, you know." Planned for 2010 is a 4 DVD-set with movies based on the same stories. 3 of the movies are already in production.
